Summer is here, and we know for many of you that means travel. We want to ensure that those summer sojourns are as relaxing and fun as possible, and we have a few suggestions to make that happen.
First and foremost, you can take your library with you. Of course, we have a multitude of physical items you can bring with you, but that might take up much needed packing space.
Have no fear: your library card also gives you access to a whole host of e-media services including hoopla, Libby, Kanopy, and Comics Plus. You can use these services to download music, e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, movies and comics directly to your digital devices.
Second, we understand that sometimes you need a little more time with your library materials. To that end, we offer automatic renewals. That means your checked out physical items will renew up to four times automatically. You’ll get an email close to when the item is due, and if you scroll to the bottom of the email, it will tell you if an item renewed and when the new due date is.
If the item is unable to renew, give us a call at 734-397-0999 or contact us and we’ll see what we can do. The one case where we won’t be able to extend your time for you is if someone else has put a hold on the item. In that instance, you won't accrue any late fees, but your account will be suspended after the item is 10 days overdue. While you’re on vacation, that suspension will prevent you from checking out digital items. When you return from vacation, bring the item(s) back and your borrowing privileges will be immediately reinstated.
Finally, if not knowing whether you will be able get all the renewals you’ll need is causing you some anxiety, talk to us before you leave. If you’re checking out items that aren’t in demand or don’t have holds, we might be able to give you a few extra days on your checkout. Ultimately, we want to help you enjoy your summer. So, if you’re abroad or on the road and having issues with your library account, reach out to us. We’ll do our best to accommodate you and resolve any issues.
