World Teachers' Day is celebrated on October 5. In honor of the educators in our community (and beyond), we are featuring the library's many resources available for teachers.
Check out the Resources for Teachers page on our website to get started with some of the excellent services listed below. (Even if your year is starting smoothly, we hope you will bookmark the link for later.)
If you are a Canton resident, you can apply for or renew your library card on our website. If you are not a Canton resident but work at a school in Canton, no worries; you can apply for or renew your library card inside the library. Make sure you have something that proves you work at the school, such as a staff ID card.
E-media
CPL offers free e-media platforms for library cardholders. Read e-books (including magazines and comics) or listen to e-audiobooks with hoopla, Libby or Comics Plus. Also, if your students use Sora, they can add their Canton Public Library card number to access thousands more materials. Watch TV and movies, or listen to music with Alexander Street, hoopla and Kanopy.
Librarians put together recommended booklists for specific grades or age ranges, from babies to high schoolers. Check out these ready-made lists.
If you’re looking for personalized booklists curated by librarians on topics of your choice, submitting a May We Suggest request is a great option.
We offer a delivery service for library materials, which can be sent to your home or even to the school you work at (if it is in Canton).
If your day is packed and you don’t have time to pick up your holds, you can pull up to one of our reserved Curbside Pickup parking spots and call the number. A library staff member will bring your materials out to your car.
Educational Databases for K-12
These databases are free for library cardholders and could be great resources for teaching lessons and providing homework help. Some of our favorites are PBS Kids, HelpNow by Brainfuse and Novelist Plus.
