The Friends are people like you — members of the community who support the library's goals and services. They advocate for the library and raise community awareness. Through their efforts, the Friends bridge the gap between a good library and recognition as a great library.
Secondhand Prose Used Bookstore
Watch for our Monthly Specials and Bag Sales (Usually the last consecutive
Friday, Saturday, and Monday of the month). Hours are:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00AM - 4:00PM
- Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings: 6:00PM - 8:00PM
- Saturday: 10:00AM - 2:00PM
- Sunday: Closed
- Tuesday for Friends members only (memberships available at the door): 2:00PM - 8:00PM
Monthly Specials
Monthly specials will now be announced on a monthly basis.
Donate Your Books, Music, Movies
Donated materials may be left in the brown wooden structure to the
right and beyond the staff entrance at the rear of the building. If your
donation is something which can be added to the library's collection,
we do that first. If not, your donation goes to Secondhand Prose, our
used bookstore, for fundraising purposes.
But not
- Magazines
- Textbooks published before 2000
- Encyclopedias older than eight years
- Dirty or otherwise damaged items
- Record albums
- Computer hardware
Join the Friends
Money raised through memberships and our used bookstore is used to help support library activities and acquisitions, as well as to fund some things not provided for in the library's operating budget.
Annual membership dues are modest:

Friends' Events
- Friends' Board Meetings: Second Wednesday of each month at 5:30PM
- Friends' Annual Membership Meeting: Late June or early July potluck dinner and business meeting to elect new officers
- Plymouth-Canton-Northville-Novi author luncheon each spring
What we sponsor at the Library
- Summer Reading Club
- Purchase needed equipment (computer, printers, etc.)
- Purchase books and special collections
- Youth, tween, teen, and adult programs
- Support a sculpture fund
- Donate annual educational scholarships to library employees
