February's selection is The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. This month's program is scheduled for 1pm on February 28, and registration begins at 9am this Saturday (February 14). We've added two new titles to our comics collection. Tiny Titans by Art Baltazar and Franco features tales of your favorite miniature superheroes, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch by Tania del Rio, chronicles the adventures of Sabrina and her friends. What sort of mischief will they conjure up this time? Stop in the Tween section of the library and find out.

In honor of Valentine’s Day (by the way, have you seen my nifty Cupid costume yet?) I thought I’d share this conversation I overheard in the Children’s DVD section.

Boy 1 (picks up Free Willy 3):  Let’s get this one.
Boy 2:  No! Not that one.  They kiss!
Boy 1 (shocked): They kiss the whale?
Boy 2: No!  The boy kisses the girl!
Boy 1: Ew! Gross!  Let’s get something else.

Airing this Saturday February 7th on TNT, don't miss the TV movie "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story" starring Cuba Gooding Jr.  Dr. Carson's  incredible life story is that of a young and poor black boy who overcame poverty and racism to become a world-renown pediatric neurosurgeon.

We invite families with children ages 1-5 years old to join us for a half hour program to share some great books and fingerplays. Registration not required.

Book Buddies is for 3rd and 4th graders.
Get together with other kids and talk about a fantastic book. Online registration begins February 5 or February 7. After you’re registered, visit the Children’s Information Desk to check out a copy of the book. Please register for only one book club per month.

Hey kids! Thorndyke here. After watching the library happenings for over 15 years, I’m glad they’ve finally given me a voice. ‘Cause nobody knows more about this library than me, except for maybe Miss Kristen and Mrs. Havenstein-Coughlin, but they go home at night. I tell you, I have the best life—sitting by the birthday wall, watching the kids come for storytime and summer reading. And the librarians are some of my best friends! They have a pretty fun job. So next time you’re at the library, stop by and wave hello. I’ll be looking for you!
