March 14 is Pi Day—an annual celebration of mathematics. Is there a better way to celebrate than to conquer your math fears? If you’re seeking some additional support in math, your Canton Public Library card can help you out.
Accessible right on our very own website, one of our many digital resources is Brainfuse’s HelpNow. Brainfuse is an online tutoring company that provides resources to libraries, schools, higher learning institutions and workforce centers. HelpNow is a special suite of Brainfuse offerings built specifically for libraries to offer tutoring and skills practice.
If you are seeking hands-on help from a person, HelpNow features live tutors. Just select your grade and subject, and you will be on your way.
Additionally, if you are seeking practice, HelpNow’s sub-suite, SkillSurfer, enables you to select a school level and subject before surfing a wide array of practice tests, flashcards and instructional videos with practice problems tailored to each subject. For example, if you choose “Middle School” and then “Grade 7 Math,” you can watch videos on scale and proportion before trying your hand at computing unit rates and writing and comparing ratios.
While live tutoring and SkillSurfer’s resources have their advantages, those also in need of asking individual questions and/or those that might not have time for live tutoring can also utilize the “Send Question” option. Like email, the ability to send a written question enables asynchronous communication, allowing an expert to read your questions and respond within 24 hours.
