MAP Out Your Summer

Summertime has so much to offer that it can be hard to choose (or budget for) everything you want to do with your family. The Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) program can help with ideas about what to do and being able to afford to do more.

Funded by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the MAP program is a collaboration between Michigan public libraries and hundreds of state parks, museums, cultural attractions, campgrounds and more.

MAP provides admission to partner institutions for free or at reduced prices, as well as discounts at gift shops or even exclusive offers for MAP pass holders.

How to Find, Purchase, and Print Passes

  1. From the MAP website, click the blue “Get Pass” button near the top right corner. Type in your library, starting location and other search details and the date you'd like to use your pass. Leaving the keyword blank will return all available passes for the specified date and area.
  2. Review the list of participating venues and available passes, organized by distance from your specified location.
  3. Click “Get Pass,” then "Continue." You will be asked to enter a valid library card number (matching the library entered earlier in your search), as well as your name and optional contact information.
  4. Click “Reserve” to claim your pass. You can then save your digital copy to a digital wallet or similar app, send it to your email or print a hard copy.

You can only check out one pass per library card every seven days, so be sure to choose carefully. Enjoy!
