Level Up Play with Youth Kits

Are you looking to make learning an engaging, fun experience? Do you wish to provide your child with hands-on practice? Are you searching for sensory tools? The library’s Youth Kits are designed with these needs in mind.

The kits, created with the support of a generous donation by the Friends of the Canton Public Library, offer learners tactile and interactive experiences to help with learning and daily activities.

Each kit falls into one of four categories:

  • EQ or Emotions Kits help with learning skills related to regulating and processing emotions, social skills, and memory.
  • Play to Learn Kits combine learning with play using educational toys and build on language, memory, reading, and other skills.
  • STEAM Kits focus on skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. These can include learning about anatomy and biology, dinosaurs and paleontology, coding, or even producing electronic music.
  • Sensory Kits are designed as play therapy toys to support the needs of neurodiverse youth of all ability levels. Sensory kits provide items that facilitate focus, improve self-regulation, increase tolerance, calm or energize, and provide needed stimulation. Kits include items such as noise-canceling headphones, a weighted stuffed animal, a breathing maze, and more.

The kits are located in the back right side of the Children’s Library, to the left of the movies and video games. Simply grab any kit available on the shelf and bring it either to self-checkout or the main desk for checkout. Just like any book, kits can be checked out for 21 days, placed on hold, and auto-renew if no hold is placed on them.

Bring the fun and interactivity of our library space home with you!
