Are you in a bookclub yet? Have you checked out the Canton Public Library bookclubs in the link above? Have you thought about a bookclub but can't find one to join that fits your interests? We want to hear from you. Are you interested in reading and discussing classic literature? Or only non-fiction, like biographies? Only mystery fiction? Would you want to meet on the weekends? Let us know! If we see enought interest in a group idea, we can give it a try.
Thursday evening's Reading Month program will feature several celebrity readers from the community and, hopefully, one from the State. Governor Jennifer Granholm is scheduled to participate in the 7 p.m. program. Also reading is State Representative Phil La Joy, State Representative Marc Corriveau, players from the Plymouth Whalers, radio personality Rachel Hunter, a police officer and a firefighter. We hope you can come by and hear a story or two. Everyone is welcome, Thursday, March 13 starting at 7 p.m.
A growing number of high-achieving students are contemplating a year off before college - known as the gap year - as a break from the pressures to gain admittance to top colleges. Mindful of that pressure, more schools are promoting gap years more aggressively. High schools now hold gap-year fairs to teach students about the option, and companies and consultants that place students in gap-year programs are expanding.
When an overachieving high school student decides to travel around the country to choose the perfect college, her overprotective cop father also decides to accompany her in order to keep her on the straight and narrow. Starring Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symone.
Have you heard about online photo sharing but aren't sure how it works? Watch the video above for a clear explanation of what online photo sharing is and why you might want to use it. Did you catch the finale of Project Runway last night? If you're feeling inspired to create some of your own designs, check out some of the terrific books at your library: The sewing stitch and textile bible : an illustrated guide to techniques and materials provides a thorough overview of stitches and materials (one of my personal faves). S.E.W. : sew everything workshop includes very detailed instructions for 25 beginner projects and includes patterns for 10 of those designs. DowntownDIY sewing : 14 easy designs for city girls with style includes 3 patterns and great instructions for those new to machine sewing. Vogue sewing quick reference is just what it says - the sort of book you want to have sitting next to your sewing machine to refer to during those "what now?" moments.
