Welcome, First Graders!

Every March, the Canton Public Library welcomes area 1st grade classrooms to the library for First Grade Round Up (FGRU). This program allows 1st graders to get a library card, check out a book, meet library staff and become familiar with the layout of the library. They are entertained with a puppet show from our librarians and get to decorate their own bookmark. It's one of our favorite library programs.

This innovative program has been going on at CPL for over 30 years and has hosted thousands of students. Do you remember coming to FGRU at the library when you were a 1st grader? What book did you check out?

While the students visit, we put our regular storytime sessions on hiatus, but don't worry—they'll be back soon. You can see our recorded storytimes on YouTube, or use the Story-Go-Round to create your own.
