Storytime: Picnic

Did you miss storytime? Perhaps it is just one of those days that you need a boost with your little ones. Fret not. We have prepared the ultimate storytime at home for you. Follow along or mix and match for the best at-home storytime experience.

Today's Theme: Picnic

Picnics bring people, cultures and even countries together. Whether it’s in your backyard, in a park or at the beach, a picnic is a wonderful opportunity to gather together with your family or friends and share delicious food.

1. Energize with a Song

Sing "If You Want to Read a Book" (to the tune of “Happy and You Know It”).

If you want to read a book, raise your hand
If you want to read a book, raise your hand.
If you want to read a book, listen up and take a look
If you want to read a book, raise your hand.

Tip: Point to your ears when you sing “listen up” and point to your eyes when you sing “take a look.”

3. Activity: Enjoy Your Own Picnic

  • Put a few snacks in a basket.
  • Set up a blanket indoors or outdoors in a comfortable spot.
  • Sit on the blanket and enjoy your food!

Optional: Invite some of your stuffed animal friends to the picnic and seat them on the blanket with you.

4. Sing a Goodbye Song
