Storytime: Balloons and Bubbles

Did you miss storytime? Perhaps it is just one of those days when you need a little boost with your little ones. Fret not. We have gathered some storytime resources for you at home, thanks to our librarians. Follow our steps below or mix and match for the ultimate storytime experience.

Today's Theme: Balloons and Bubbles

1. Energize with a Song

Start your storytime by singing “We Clap and Sing Hello” (sing to the tune of “Farmer in the Dell”).

We clap and sing hello

We clap and sing hello

With our friends at storytime

We clap and sing hello!

Repeat with the following verses:

We wave and sing hello…

We stomp and say hello

You can also try making up your own verses to sing and act out.

2. Read a Book About Balloons or Bubbles

Up, up, and away! Float through the air with balloons, bubbles, and big imaginations in these playful picture books. Whether they're drifting through the sky or popping with joy, each story brings a little lift to your day.

3. Activity: Make Your Own Bubble Solution

Here’s an easy recipe using ingredients you probably already have at home:

You’ll need:

  • 4 cups warm water
  • ½ cup liquid dish soap
  • 4 tablespoons sugar

Instructions:

  1. Pour the warm water into a large jar or bucket.
  2. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves.
  3. Add the liquid dish soap and stir very gently to avoid creating too many suds.

4. Sing a Goodbye Song

See you next time! Wrap up your storytime and sing along with our librarians to "Skinnamarink."
