Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, was first commemorated on November 11, 1919 to mark the first anniversary of World War I. The name was changed in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower and we recognize all veterans, either living or dead, who served their country in one of the branches of the United States military.
There are many local veterans who deserve recognition and we’ve highlighted some of them here. To all veterans both near and far, thank you for your service.
