Let There Be Lights: Your Guide to Local Holiday Happenings

The holidays start coming fast and furious here at the start of November, sometimes so much so that it can be hard to keep track of all the different activities you or your family could participate in. Have no fear; here at the Canton Public Library, we went to work on curating a list showcasing a variety of opportunities for you and your family to experience some holiday festivities and cheer in 2025.

Canton

Swim with Santa

On Saturday, November 15, from 5:00-7:00 PM, there will be an opportunity to swim with Santa and share your holiday wish list early at the Summit on the Park. This event requires registration and has a fee, but it should be a great chance for fun with the whole family, and who doesn’t love the chance to get some good swimming time in the cold winter months?

Fall 2025 Plymouth-Canton Arts and Crafts Show 

On Saturday, November 22, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, the Plymouth Canton Music Boosters are hosting their fall crafts show with over 150 juried artisans at Plymouth High School. Check the link for admission fees and other details. 

Winter Wonderland Walk

On Saturday, November 22, Heritage Park will kick off the holiday season with their Winter Wonderland Walk. At 4:00 PM, there will be a parade featuring marching bands, community groups and holiday lights. Rumor has it that Santa might visit at the end of the parade. This event is free for all.

Holidays in Heritage

If you can’t make it to the Winter Wonderland Walk mentioned above, have no fear. The seasonal lights will stay in Heritage Park through the end of December. Look to take a walk through when it gets dark in the evenings.

Christmas in the Village

On Saturday, December 6, celebrate Christmas with the whole family from 3:00-7:30 PM at the Village Arts Factory. There will be food trucks, carolers and live musicians, the chance to take pictures with Santa, decorate holiday cookies, visit an animal petting zoo, drink hot chocolate and more.

The Prolifics’ Motown Christmas

On Friday, December 12, at 7:30 PM, The Prolifics will perform at the Village Theatre in Cherry Hill Village. The show will be a tribute to Motown artists and the holiday classics they performed. Check the website for ticket information.

Plymouth

Walk of Trees

From November 28, 2025 through January 5, 2026, visit Kellogg Park to see all the trees decorated along the walkways. It's a great opportunity to go for a walk after it gets dark.

Holiday Greens Market

On Saturday, November 29, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, peruse the Holiday Greens Market in The Gathering near Kellogg Park.

Tinsel & Treasures

On Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13, a holiday craft market will be set up at the Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex (PARC). The market will feature handcrafted holiday décor, gifts for the various holidays during the season, winter fashion and gourmet treats. There is an admission fee to enter, which covers both days.

Christmas in Plymouth & Mistletoe Market

From December 12-14, downtown Plymouth will host a wonderful Christmas celebration. Throughout the three days, many activities will be held, most of which are free. Some, like the horse and carriage tours, do require a fee.

Beyond Plymouth-Canton

Ice Skating at Campus Martius in Downtown Detroit

Feeling like ice skating in this holiday season? Head on down to the rink at Campus Martius in downtown Detroit. It is open seven days a week, including holidays. While there, get a picture in front of the giant Christmas tree.

Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo

On select dates from November 22, 2025 to January 4, 2026, walk around and see the animal-themed light sculptures set up throughout the Detroit Zoo. This event requires a ticket purchase.
