Kids Summer Movie Blockbusters in 2026

Summer is here, which means the weather is warm and the kids are out of school. Movie theaters are here to help, though, with a nice, air-conditioned place to watch a film and a whole host of blockbuster movies designed to capture the imagination of you and your kids.

To help you keep track of all the films coming to theaters that your children will be excited about, we put together a list of titles, including release dates and brief synopses. 

The Sheep Detectives May 8, 2026

In this charming-looking whodunit comedy, Hugh Jackman plays a kind shepherd who ends every day by reading his flock drawing-room style mysteries. When he’s mysteriously killed, his sheep spring into action and use their accumulated knowledge of mysteries to help a bumbling town constable solve their shepherd’s murder.

The film features a stacked cast that includes Emma Thompson, Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart and Brett Goldstein. 

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu May 22, 2026

This feature film brings armored bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), the titular character of Disney+’s hit series The Mandalorianand his adorable, young apprentice to the big screen for an all-new adventure set after the series finale.

Voice actor Steve Blum reprises his role as Zeb from the animated Star Wars series Rebels. Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White play new characters. 

Masters of the Universe June 5, 2026

This live-action feature film will feel like a nostalgia fest for parents old enough to play with the titular toys, but it also features large, sci-fi action set pieces and enough comedy to make it appealing to all ages.

The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine, Idris Elba, Camila Mendes and Jared Leto. 

Toy Story 5 June 19, 2026

In this new installment of the long-running Pixar animated series, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends face a new and harrowing existential threat when their owner is given an electronic device (voiced by Greta Lee) to play with. 

Supergirl June 26, 2026

At the end of last year’s Superman, filmgoers were introduced to the Man of Steel’s Cousin, Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock).

This film, which adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, embroils Supergirl in an intergalactic adventure that brings her face-to-face with DC Comics’ alien bounty hunter, Lobo (Jason Momoa). 

Minions & Monsters – July 1, 2026 

The next installment of Illumination’s Minions franchise finds the lovable characters on a quest to make a monster movie. To help them find creatures for their film, they recruit a surprising ally, an adorable baby version of H.P. Lovecraft’s elder god, Cthulhu. 

Moana – July 10, 2026 

In this live-action adaptation of the 2016 animated Disney film, Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as the demigod Maui, and Catherine Laga'aia plays the nominal adventurous teen who sets sail on a quest to save her people. 

Spider-Man: Brand New Day – July 31, 2026 

In this film, Tom Holland makes his return to the big screen as everyone’s favorite web-slinger, and he’ll be joined by a whole host of established Marvel heroes and villains, including the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Tombstone (Marvin Jones III). 

Coyote vs. Acme – August 28, 2026

This comedy, which blends live-action and animation, was actually finished in 2023. It was shelved by the higher-ups at Warner Bros., who later reversed their decision, and it will finally hit theaters this summer.

The story, which was co-written by James Gunn and stars Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor, revolves around the fictional Acme corporation, which sells all manner of products to the Looney Tunes characters.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie April 1, 2026 

This sequel to the 2023 animated blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie brings back the characters and voice cast of the previous film for a new intergalactic adventure that adapts the hit video games Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. It also introduces some new, iconic characters from the games into the film series, like Yoshi and Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie).

The Pout Pout Fish – March 20, 2026 

This animated film, based on the kids' book series, is sure to make fans of films like Finding Nemo happy. It’s the tale of a grumpy fish (voiced by Nick Offerman) who is reluctantly recruited for a quest to help a family of Leafy Sea Dragons find a new home. 

HoppersMarch 6, 2026 

This Pixar animated feature combines the company’s signature blend of hilarity and heart. It follows the exploits of a 19–year-old girl (voiced by Piper Curda), who learns to communicate with animals and how animals view us when she transfers her consciousness into the body of a robotic beaver.
