HelpNow by Brainfuse

HelpNow by Brainfuse, opens a new window is a tutoring, homework help, and studying service for patrons of all ages. HelpNow is available in the library and from home. In addition to the regular services listed below, HelpNow also offers featured services like chess tutoring or help completing the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) form. To use HelpNow, opens a new window, enter your library card number and create a username and password to get started. 

Homework Help: Brainfuse tutors are available everyday from 2:00-11:00 PM. Tutors are trained not to provide answers, but to help users master a problem’s underlying academic concepts. All Brainfuse tutors are experienced professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree. Brainfuse offers tutoring and homework help services in Spanish for all subjects offered in English.

Writing Lab: Through live writing help, patrons work in real-time with a tutor on brainstorming, revising, or more. The intensive writing lab allows patrons to submit a paper to receive an instructive and thoughtful analysis within 24 hours.

Language Lab: Provides on-demand tutoring support and a robust vocabulary builder for students who are taking a foreign language class.

Adult Learning Center: The adult learners’ version of HelpNow. Patrons can access high school equivalency prep, US Citizenship test prep, resume assistance, and help using Microsoft Office. The Writing Lab and skill-building services are also included in the Adult Learning Center.

SkillSurfer: An extensive collection of lessons, videos, and practice tests in a wide range of academic subjects created by the Brainfuse team. SkillSurfer includes state-aligned skills building, practice tests, college application assistance, ESL services, parent resources, and more. Practice tests include:

  • The new SAT
  • ACT
  • The new GED
  • TASC (a GED alternative test)
  • HiSet (a GED alternative test)
  • ASVAB
  • TOEFL
  • TOEIC
  • US Citizenship Test
