Fireworks are a highlight of the summer season in Michigan. Whether in small towns or large cities, on lakeshores or at hometown festivals, fireworks allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy pyrotechnics in the dark sky on a warm evening. The tradition of fireworks and the Fourth of July dates back to the founding of our country. The first celebration was held in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, and has continued ever since.
