Today’s Theme: Baby Animals

Tiny paws, charming chirps, and roly-poly cuteness. Mix and match the resources below for an at-home storytime featuring the youngest members of the animal kingdom.

1. Energize with a Song

Sing "If You’d Like to Read a Book" to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”.

If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand.
If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand.
If you’d like to read a book, listen up and take a look.
If you’d like to read a book, raise your hand.

Tip: When singing the words “listen up”, point to your ears. When singing the words “take a look”, point to your eyes.

2. Recite a Rhyme

Try the perennial favorite, “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider”.

The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain.
And the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again.

Tip: Experiment with reciting this rhyme in different ways. Try it fast, slow, quiet or loud. You can also try using vocal tones that differ from your regular voice, such as a high, squeaky voice or a low, deep voice.

3. Read a Book about Baby Animals
