Friends of the Library

The Friends are people like you — members of the community who support the library's goals and services. They advocate for the library and raise community awareness. Through their efforts, the Friends bridge the gap between a good library and recognition as a great library.

Secondhand Prose Used Bookstore

The Friends' bookstore, Secondhand Prose, will close from December 23 to early February for extensive remodeling as part of Phase IV of the library's Patron Service Improvement Project.
Book donations will not be accepted during the renovation. Please hold book donations until the bookstore reopens in February, or consider taking your donations to the Plymouth District Library.
Updates on the progress of the renovation will be posted on the Friends of the Canton Public Library Facebook page.

Wings of Wonder Butterfly Garden

In addition to our continuing Canton Public Library support for materials and the Endowment Fund, the Friends of the Canton Public Library have created a Butterfly Garden behind the library. The intent is not only to provide a peaceful natural setting available for the whole community to enjoy, but also to include an educational component through programming. The project involves the whole community as we solicit native Michigan butterfly friendly plants and support from local gardeners. Please check our Facebook page for announcements of upcoming events and our annual Butterfly Friendly Plants Exchange for Milkweed in June.

Sponsorship Spotlight — Winter Snow Spree

The Friends of the Canton Public Library recently sponsored the December 13 Winter Snow Spree. Attending children were enchanted by Silverbell, the reindeer, and the two elves that accompanied her. The fun continued inside with crafts, games, stories, and hot chocolate. Each child was gifted a small hard copy of The Nutcracker Story. Thanks to the library staff and teen volunteers who organized and helped out at the event.
