ABC Activity Time

ABC Activity Time will begin November 12. This is an informal session where parents, caregivers, children and babies meet together in a relaxed environment. This drop-in playtime includes sensory activities, puzzles, and matching games for children ages birth to 5, with caregiver. No registration required. Program takes place in the Community Room, unless otherwise noted.

Sessions November 12-December 15

  • Mondays 10:30-11:00 AM and 1:30-2:00 PM
  • Tuesdays 7:30-8:00 PM
  • Wednesdays 10:30-11:00 AM and 7:30-8:00 PM
  • Thursdays 10:30-11:00 AM
  • Fridays 10:30-11:00 AM
  • Saturdays 10:30-11:00 AM in the Purple Room
There will be no ABC Activity Time on Thursday, November 22 and Friday November 23 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Gobble Gobble!

ABC Activity Time

ABC Activity Time will begin September 10. This is an informal session where parents, caregivers, children and babies meet together in a relaxed environment. This drop-in playtime includes sensory activities, puzzles, and matching games for children ages birth to 5, with caregiver. No registration required. Program takes place in the Community Room, unless otherwise noted.

September 10-October 20

  • Mondays 10:30-11:00 AM and 1:30-2:00 PM

Snack Tales

What happens when you combine great stories with an easy-to-make treat? You get "Snack Tales!" This program is for kids in grades K-4 with a caregiver. Join us Tuesday, June 26, from 7:00-7:45 PM to enjoy a story and make a fun, edible treat based on that story. Registration begins May 24 at 9:00 AM.

  • On June 7th the Family Storytime/ABC Activity Time session will be in collaboration with Starfish Family Services Program for parents and caregivers titled Word Play: Rhymes and Other Pre-Reading Activities. The workshop is for adults and Starfish brings along licensed day care providers to watch your children if you choose
  • There will be no Activty time on June 8 (for a blood drive)

All About Bees

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a bee? How do they live? What do they do? Join us Thursday, April 12th from 3:00 to 4:00 PM where we will learn all about bees! Live bees will be present at the program! Registration begins online Thursday, March 29th. This program is for kids ages 6 years to 9 years and their caregiver. See you there!

Kiwanis Storytime

On Thursday, November 10 from 7:00-7:45 PM, members of the Kiwanis Club of Canton will read stories and offer other fun activities. All ages welcome.

As the Page Turns

Children ages 4-8, with a caregiver, are invited to share a storytime with an international flavor. Staff from the bookstore As the Page Turns will present stories in a foreign language.
Program Date: November 8, 7:00-7:30 PM

Reading Assistance Dogs

Kids and Tweens going into grades K-6, improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a dog. Sign up for a 10 minute session. Space is limited, on a first come, first serve basis, beginning at 6:25 PM.
Program Date: December 5, 6:30-8:30 PM

Open Chess

Tim Heller, avid chess player, hosts informal open play while providing instruction and pointers. Beginners welcome. This program is for all ages.

The Canton Seniors Book Discussion group has recessed for the summer. Book discussions will resume on September 28, 2011.  We will be reading Sarah Gruen's Water for Elephants.  Copies of this book will be available beginning Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Ask at the Adult Reference Desk for a copy.

The group's 2011-2012 book discussion titles and dates will be available on the Canton Public Library  book clubs' website in August.

Ghost Hunting for Teens and Adults

Paranormal investigator and psychic medium, Kristy Robinett, wonders if you believe that there is more than "us" in this existence? With over 15 years of paranormal investigative experience and some very intriguing tales to share, Kristy will advise on the do's and don'ts while ghost hunting. Join us, if you dare, on Tuesday October 26th from 7:00-8:30PM, no registration necessary.
