National Senior Games 2013

The 2013 National Senior Games opened in Cleveland on Friday, July 19. Competitors will meet July 19 through August 1. The Games, a 19-sport, biennial competition for men and women 50 and over, is the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors. Individuals and teams will compete over the next 12 days in Archery, Badminton, Baseball, Volleyball, Swimming, etc. NSGA Member Organizations hold annual games with qualifying competitions in the year preceding The Games. Athletes that meet specific criteria while participating in the State Senior Games qualify to participate. This year, three Michigan Male Volleyball Teams are competing.

Earn your badge by sharing a photo of you reading a baseball book at a Tigers Game, reading about improving your chess skills while playing a formidable opponent, or come up with your own way of creatively reading while playing.

Oldies, but Goodies: Backyard Games

Join us for some old-fashioned backyard games! We'll be behind the library (weather permitting) so kids of all ages can come have some fun. Should we run into bad weather, we'll still have games in the Community Room, so stop by.

Girls Only Campout

No boys will be allowed at this campout held at Preservation Park on Friday, August 13 at 5:30PM. Ladies can start tent setup at 3:00PM and activities including a scavenger hunt, games, stories, campfire meals, and a gourmet S’mores station start at 5:30PM. All activities are weather permitting.

Whether you root for the U of M Wolverines or the Detroit Lions, fill those downtimes during commercial breaks and half-time shows with pages of cool information on teams, players, and bowl games found in our collection! Have fun tossing the pigskin!
