Put a Smile on a Grey Day

Grey weather getting you down?  One of my favorite books with some good rainy day chapters is Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary.  Curl up with a good Ramona story, check out Ramona online, or if you're really feeling adventurous, grab your galoshes and raincoat and splash in a few puddles!

Get Some Cosmic Perspective!

International Astronomy Day is observed on a Saturday near the first quarter moon between mid-April and mid-May. This year it will fall on May 2nd. To learn more contact Gary Tomlinson who is located in Comstock Park, MI or visit the website sponsored by Astronomy Day Headquarters. Great biographies on the most famous astronomers are available at the library, as well as many informative books on outer space. Have fun exploring the realms which inspired such Sci-Fi hits Star Wars and Star Trek!

"Where is your Christian fiction?"

Many kids have been asking this question this past week. There is not a special area or spine label devoted to Christian fiction, but the library certainly does have lots of books that meet this need.

Hurry...Reading Month is Ending Soon!

Book WhispererDonalyn Miller, Teacher Magazine blogger and author, couldn't find a book that demonstrated her love for reading to her students so she decided to write one herself. It's a shame we aren't born with the desire to love books. We have to discover the world of books on our own, or from parents and teachers. Many of us have cherished childhood memories of visiting the library and happily leaving with an armful of books.

Mysteries, Mysteries, Everywhere...

Go Around the World in 80 Mysteries with Carole Marsh's new series. Delve into investigations in 12 countries now and look forward to more adventures that are sure to follow. What a great way to enjoy International Month!

Craving a Candy Apple???

It is now easier than ever for you to grab a Candy Apple Book when you get the urge to read one. They are shelved in the J SERIES Collection (aisle 19) under "C" for Candy Apple.

Some Luck o' the Irish!

There's a pot o' golden Irish books at the end of the library's rainbow just waiting for you! Some awesome stories take place in Ireland. Facts abound about Ireland.

Happy Birthday, Jane Yolen!

Celebrate Jane Yolen’s 70th birthday by checking out one of her books in our collection.  From picture books to poetry, teen fantasy to fairy tales and short stories to science fiction, it sure seems like she’s written something for everyone.  One of my favorites is Twelve Impossible Things Before Breakfast.
