Computer Classes

  • Current Canton Library cardholders 18 years and above are eligible to register for classes
  • Go to Program Calendar to sign up for classes. An online tutorial is available to help guide you through the process
  • Registration for class starts two weeks in advance of program date. Register online only
  • Have your Canton Library card number ready when you log on to the computer to register
  • You can use your Patron Record to review programs you are registered or waitlisted for and to cancel a registration. Please cancel registration at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $5 fee
  • All classes are free to Canton Library cardholders

Computer Basics for Seniors

Do computers confound you? We can help!
Get a personalized introduction to the world of computers and technology. We'll talk about what a computer is and how it works, and how to tell it to do what you want. We'll start with the very basics, such as turning it on and using the mouse, and prepare you for more advanced uses such as word processing and Internet browsing. No experience required!

Registration is required! There are limited appointments available from 1-3pm on August 19th - August 21st in the I-Lab. To register, please visit the Canton Leisure Services Seniors Program, located in the Parkview Room of Summit on the Park or call 734-394-5485.

Internet Basics Class

Learn how to search the Web, the library catalog and online databases. Prerequisite: Mouse skills or equivalent experience. Join us Friday, September 27 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Canton Public Library Internet Lab.

Zinio Digital Magazines Basics

Find out how to sign up to access the new issues of close to 200 digital magazines that you can read cover to cover on your computer or on your mobile device through the app. The class is designed to walk you through the process of opening your accounts and answer questions. You must have a CPL library card and a valid email address to open an account.

Kindle eReaderJoin us Saturday, May 11 from 10:00-11:30 AM in the I-Lab to learn the step-by-step of checking out free library eBooks with OverDrive. Devices featured in the live demo include Kindle and Nexus 10 tablet. Other popular eReaders are on hand for you to get acquainted, too.
