Teen Leadership Council Applications

Do you want to give back to your community? Are you interested in shaping experiences at the Canton Public Library?

The Teen Leadership Council is a group of young people who want to take a more active role in our library community. TLC makes book and informational displays, provides feedback on the direction of the Teen Space within the library, and even gets the chance to design and lead special programs.

Last year TLC organized a winter supplies drive with PBJ Outreach, led a DIY Family Affirmation Box program, created Teen Space character Bubbles the Cat, contributed content to the CPL website, designed a Cookies & Characters program for 62 Days of Summer, and so much more. If you would like the chance to become a leader in the CPL community, fill out an application to join us for our 2023-2024 season.

Teens ages 14-18 can fill out an application for the Teen Leadership Council and return it to the Check Out Desk by Sunday, September 24, 2023. If selected, a parent or legal guardian must fill out the Minor Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability.

Teen Leadership Council meetings will take place on the following Saturdays from 2:30-4:00 PM:

  • October 28, 2023
  • November 11, 2023
  • November 25, 2023

  • March 16, 2024
  • April 13, 2024

We require that volunteers commit to attending at least eight meetings. Due to limited space, not all applicants will be offered a position on the Teen Leadership Council. We will contact applicants to schedule a short interview after September 24, 2023.

Please note: all volunteers under the age of 18 must have a Work Permit on file with the Canton Public Library in order to participate in the Teen Leadership Council.
