Healthy Habits for Kids

Getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, washing our hands regularly, and getting some physical activity every day are all good habits that are crucial to living a healthy life. The sooner we establish healthy habits in life, the easier it is to maintain them and stay as healthy as possible.

You can help your kids develop healthy habits by incorporating them into family activities. Some ideas to try include taking a walk, going shopping for ingredients to cook a healthy meal, trying some yoga poses, or going screen-free an hour before bed and spending that time reading books together.

Mental health is an important part of our overall health too, and developing healthy habits in this area is beneficial at any age. Breathing exercises, practicing mindfulness, and talking with a trusted adult about “big” emotions such as fear, sadness, or anger are all excellent steps on the path to mental health maintenance.
