Thorndyke Thoughts

Hey Kids. LB began his summer travels this weekend with at trip to Traverse City. He's been there once before, and he did some things for the second time, and some things for the first time. He visited a lighthouse and walked out to the 45th Parallel--that's the line of Latitude that's right in the middle between the Equator and the North Pole. And he visited The Sleeping Bear Dunes. These Dunes get their name from an old Native American legend you can check out and read here at the library. In the picture above you can see THREE bears--LB and the two bear cub islands North and South Manitou Islands. On one of them you can see another old lighthouse and a shipwreck!
LB says Traverse City was a lot of fun, but just a little chilly. So he's looking forward to his next trip where it will be warmer. It has water, sand and Islands too! Where do you think he is going?
Bear Hugs!
