Meatless Mondays

Let's kick off the Earth Week festivities with Meatless Monday.  Learn from Door to Door Organics Jessica Gurney how to eat locally grown, healthy meals.  By making at least one meal per week a meatless meal, not only do we benefit, but so does our environment and our beloved Michigan.  Join us on Monday, April 22 at 7:00 PM for this informative program that might change your eating habits for the better.

Native American Dancers for Mother Earth

Celebrate Mother Earth with authentic Native American Dancers led by Reg Pettibone. To wrap up our week-long Earth Week activities, we welcome the Native American Dancers who will entertain us in a very special way on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to see the beautiful, colorful costumes and the outstanding dance moves that praise our planet.

Baseball Talk: Rick Ferrell & the Detroit Tigers

Batter up!  Baseball is back in town so join us for an entertaining, historical presentation to get us all in the team spirit on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 PM. Kerrie Ferrell chronicles her father's career, Hall of Fame catcher Rick Ferrell, and his Detroit Tigers baseball career from 1950-1992.  She will share historical pictures, humorous inside stories and take us all on an entertaining journey through decades of pro baseball.  Tales of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and more will surely entertain.
Pass the peanuts and Cracker Jack!   

Open Chess

Black History Storytelling - POSTPONED

We are still celebrating Black History Month with a special night of storytelling by Alfreda Harris on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:00 PM.  Families are welcome to share in Ms. Harris' inspirational and fun stories emphasizing black history and the people involved in the civil rights movement.  Please join us for a fun, thought-provoking evening.
Postponed until May 9, due to inclement weather.

Zumba

As Canton Township's 100 Days to Health draws to a close, we are pleased to welcome Dede to lead us in one of her outstanding Zumba classes. Come prepared with comfortable clothing, a bottle of water and a towel. Dede will put you through your paces with energetic dance moves. You'll feel the burn and get in the groove on Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 AM.

We're Celebrating the Irish with Terry Murphy

We all claim to be a wee bit Irish this time of year.  Come celebrate with Irish folk singer, Terry Murphy.  Murphy will get your toes tapping and your Irish eyes smiling with his authentic, heartfelt music.  Grab your shamrocks and hurry over to the Canton Public Library on Monday, March 18 at 7:00 PM for this special concert.

Women Who Changed America

In celebration of Women's History Month, we are pleased to host two luminaries from our past:  former first lady Mary Todd Lincoln and famous author Beatrix Potter.  Re-enactor Marie Papciak will bring these two famous women to life in her presentation.  With over 30 years of experience, Ms. Papciak will bring the characters to life to the delight of children and adults alike on Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 PM.  No registration is required.  

Heart Soul Detroit

Local authors Matt Lee and Jenny Risher present their lovely new book Heart Soul Detroit which contains insightful interviews and artistic photographs of famous Detroiters from James Hoffa to Jack White to Nick Lidstrom and 47 others. The authors will discuss how they compiled their list, did the interviews and took their project to completion. Books will be available for sale and will be signed by the authors. This promises to be a delightful evening of remembering and speculating on Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 PM.
