With the 100 year anniversary of the death of Mark Twain coming up on April 10, it might be time to re-read one of his books. Or his biography, he lived in interesting times and was a keen observer of human nature. Several of Twain's books have been adapted for the screen, some of the titles have been done two or three times.

Author & Adventurer, Pam Flowers

Adventurer and author, Pam Flowers, returns to Michigan from her home in Alaska to share her latest adventure of dog sledding to the Magnetic North Pole. Pam will share two books that are the result of her travels:
Magnetic North: A Journey to the Magnetic North Pole and Douggie: The Playful Pup Who Became a Sled Dog Hero. Bring the entire family on Thursday, March 25 at 7:00PM in the Community Room. You really must meet this incredible, brave woman.

Spring Cleaning!

Now that spring is right around the corner (the first day of spring is March 20th!), it's time to think about spring cleaning. I know, cleaning is never that much fun, but you can make it a little better by reading about some of your favorite characters doing the exact same thing! Read Clifford's Spring Clean-Up or Lionel in the Spring for some spring cleaning inspiration. Before you know it you'll have helped your parents get the whole house in top shape!

Cool New Book

If you've ever been interested in presidential pets, you'll have to pick up First Pooch: The Obamas Pick a Pet. This fun book tells the story of the Obama family selecting their Portuguese water dog, Bo. It even tells you a little bit about other pets that lived in the White House! Eco books : inventive projects from the recycling bin by Terry Taylor

Handmade books sound neat, but how easy is it to actually make one? Turns out, pretty easy! You can take materials you have around the house and make them into books in a variety of styles. This book shows how to make forty different types of books ranging from easy (complete in an afternoon or less) to more advanced styles that might take a little longer. You can also reuse a ton of different materials for the covers, including egg cartons, cardboard, fabric, an old mouse pad, cereal boxes, and lots of others.
