The 7th annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be observed on Tuesday, September 23, 2014—the first day of fall. This year’s theme, Strong Today, Falls Free® Tomorrow, seeks to raise awareness about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults.  Go4Life has several instructional videos featuring strength building exercises.  Canton Public Library offers these DVDs.

Caregiver and Baby Yoga

On Friday, October 3 from 10:00-10:45 AM, local yoga instructor, Thirupu Siva, returns to CPL with her newborn to teach soothing and fun yoga poses to both you and your baby. Bring your own blanket and/or yoga mat to relax on and have quality one on one time with your babe. Recommended for caregivers with children aged 12 months and under. Registration is required and begins on Friday, September 19.

Gluten Free Support Group

Have you wondered why everyone is talking about being "gluten-free" ? Are you starting the journey of being gluten-free or have you been without gluten for a long time? This class/support group is for you. Dr Cynthia Shaft-Toll DC will share health benefits of the gluten-free lifestyle : how and where to shop for gluten-free items, how to and where are the best gluten-free restaurants, how to cook for holidays and special events. Guest speakers also will be presenting at different months. Some sample gluten-free food will be available and we hope for the group to share their best recipes as well.  Group meets Tuesday September 9 at 7:00 - 8:00 pm.

The NIHSeniorHealth website was recently redesigned with a more updated look and feel while retaining its senior-friendly format. They’ve added a search function to make it easier for you to find information on their website and on other reputable websites. Users can make the text bigger, the contrast better, even make the site "talk".
