Have you wondered why everyone is talking about being "gluten-free" ? Are you starting the journey of being gluten-free or have you been without gluten for a long time? This class/support group is for you. Dr Cynthia Shaft-Toll DC will share health benefits of the gluten-free lifestyle : how and where to shop for gluten-free items, how to and where are the best gluten-free restaurants, how to cook for holidays and special events. Guest speakers also will be presenting at different months. Some sample gluten-free food will be available and we hope for the group to share their best recipes as well.

Preschool storytimes are a fun celebration of story and words designed for children ages 3-5. Children must be able to sit attentively and participate for 30 minutes. Parents may attend, or must remain in the children's department. Storytimes will be held in the purple room starting Monday, January 6 through Friday, February 14. Registration is online and begins Monday, December 23. We welcome you at one of the following sessions:
Due to library renovations we will be closed on February 3 and 4, therefore there will be no Preschool Storytime on February 3. The Children's Library and Purple Room will be closed from Feb 3 through February 15. Remaining Preschool Storytimes are as follows:
Friday, February 7 in Community Room
Monday, February 10 in Community Room WITH Family Storytime participants
Friday, February 14 in Community Room
On Tuesday, January 7 from 4:30-5:15 PM, Thirupu Siva will teach young people from 6-16 years of age the basic asanas, building up to various intermediate poses. Please wear dark, loose fitting clothing and bring a yoga mat to work on. If you have long hair, please tie it back. Registration for this program begins on December 23.

Kids and Tweens in grades K-6, improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a Canine Good Citizen. Sign up begins at 6:25 PM at the Children's Desk and is on a first come, first served basis. Sessions start at 10 minutes per sitting.

Attorney Ruby Robinson and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center will provide information and access to materials to get the process started for you. Come hear how you can become a citizen of the United States of America. Join us on Wednesday, January 15 at 7 PM to get answers and help.
Raja Yoga Meditation helps you reach a deeper understanding of yourself, your intrinsic positive qualities and your innate value. Join practitioners from the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University every Sunday from 2:45-5:45 PM in the Purple Room to explore these universal concepts and encourage your inner spiritual development toward a fresh perspective on values such as justice, freedom, respect and love.
