Join origami expert, Charles Esseltine, on Thursday, October 4 from 7:00-8:00 PM to learn about basic folds and shapes. Charles will demontrate a variety of origami models, including some fun, Halloween designs. All materials will be provided. All ages and experience levels welcome. Registration is required and will open on September 25. Little hands will need assistance from big hands. Warning: All attendants must arrive willing to have fun!

Are you a creative kid? Are you in 2nd through 6th grade? Let your creative side flow in our new monthly program, Creatapillars. This exciting program will alternate between art themed and writing themed activities each month starting with an art themed activity on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM. What happens when you combine great stories with an easy-to-make treat? You get "Snack Tales!" Join us Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 PM to enjoy a sweet mid-day snack based on a fun story.

Registration begins August 27th at 9:00 AM. Please indicate any food allergies in the notes field when registering. CPL librarians worked hard to tailor this program for a specific age group, so Snack Tales is for kids in grades K-4 only, with a caregiver.

On Sunday, August 19, CPL staff visits the Canton Farmer's Market to host storytimes and crafts. On this Sunday, Canton Leisure Service will also be holding a book exchange. All are invited to bring their gently used books to the market where you may exchange with other book lovers for some fresh titles to add to your home library. The Canton Farmer's Market is open from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Storytimes are at 10:00 AM and Noon. Open to all ages.

Congratulations to Grace Lueng for a first-place award in our Quilt Show. Grace's paper pieced Musical Instruments quilt won the popular vote. In second place was Marjorie Sheffieck's appliqued lily creation, and in third place was Dolores Hrlic's log cabin variation. 2. Bring your grandchildren to one of the many activities Canton Public Library offers for children
3. Start a book club for grandparents and grandkids

There are probably other grandparents taking care of their grandchildren this summer in your neighborhood who would be interested. Canton Public Library offers CTT Book Discussion Kits for children, tweens, and teens.

Devils & Blue Dresses by Mitch Ryder.    Detroit's own, Mitch Ryder will discuss and sign his autobiography on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00p.m. at Ypsilanti District Library, 5577 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti, MI.  Ryder will be interviewed by Martin Bandyke of Ann Arbor 107.  A Question and Answer session will follow the interview.
