Pinterest Live - DIY SPA

Wondering if any of those homemade beauty product recipes on Pinterest actually work? Do you spend time pinning handmade scrubs and creams to a board thinking you will give them a whirl someday? Well let's roll up our sleeves together and bring some of those pins to life!  Join staff librarian and DIY enthusiast July 29th at 7:00 pm as we sample some recipes and recreate a few other.  Ages 12 and up. Registration required.

Make and Take a Hair Flower

Drop in for a crafting session June 23rd from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.  We will be layering silk daisy petals to create one of a kind flower hair clips.  We will have all of the  supplies you need  to create your own unique accessory.  Make a flower for yourself or someone you love.  All ages welcome. 

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

There are few things more enjoyable than launching a kite into the sky and watching it soar!  Jamie Nye, from Turtle Toys of Clarkston, has been flying kites for over 20 years.  Wind willing, she will join us on July 30 from 10:00-11:00AM to show us how it's done as well as guide us through building our very own kite to take home and try ourself.  Kite kits are limited. This program is designed for patrons aged 5-12 years old, registration is required and begins on May 26.

Do you spend hours pinning to boards on Pinterest but never find the time to actually try any of them? Wish you had more time to explore your creative side? Well let's roll up our sleeves together and bring some of those great crafts on Pinterest to life!  Between now and May 19th, visit our "Pinterest Live" board and cast your vote for the project you would like to try.  To vote, simply click on the little heart to "like" the craft of your choice.  Then on May 27 at 7:00 PM,  join staff librarian and crafting enthusiast  Laura Fawcett as we work together to recreate the craft that receives the most votes.  Ages 12 and up.  Registration required for craft session.

May the Fourth Be with You!

The Canton Public Library is celebrating Star Wars Day. All ages are invited to stop by the Purple Room on Sunday, May 4 between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to watch the cartoon series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and create a 3D papercraft of a Star Wars character. The cartoon will start at 1:00 PM, but feel free to come in anytime to make your craft. May the Fourth be with you!

Building Bridges Family Fun Day

Building Bridges Family Fun DayFamily Fun Day will once again be brought to you by the Muslim Community of the Western Suburbs Outreach Committee. It will be held at the Canton Mosque at 40440 Palmer Rd. in Canton on April 12th from 11am-2pm. This will feature face paining, henna, ethnic foods, sports, arab calligraphy, mosque tours and Q and A with the Imam. Please RSVP to www.mcws.org/outreach if you wish to attend so they will have an idea of how many will come.  This Family Fun Day should be fun for everyone!

Superfun Unicorn Party!

unicorn greatUnicorns are so awesome! Come and celebrate their coolness at our Superfun Unicorn Party on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We will read a magical Unicorn story, make some fun crafts, and have an awesome snack. This program is open to kids ages 4 years to 8 years old and their caregiver. Registration will begin Monday, January 20, 2014. See you there! Horn wearing optional!

Top Ten Photo Preservation Mistakes

Presented by Priceless Photo Preservation of Ann Arbor, this is an interactive workshop that helps participants figure out the often confusing world of preserving their family photos, movies, videos, scrapbooks and slides. Among other things, you'll learn what digital formats to avoid, how commonly used scrapbooking items actually put your items in danger and how to digitize your mementos properly. Participants are encouraged to bring photos, slides and similar family memorabilia for personal evaluations and consultations with PPP partners Rob Hoffman and Hanna Primeau.
This program will take place on Wednesday, February 19 from 7:00-8:30 PM.
