ELL Book Club

Advanced English Language Learners — join us to read and discuss books in English. Books will be discussed until finished. Meets at 12:00 NOON in the Community Room Friday, April 3rd and 17th. 

ELL Conversation Group

Practice speaking English in an informal setting with Community Literacy Council volunteers, April Thursdays and Fridays,  9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the Purple Room.

 Learn the language of the Emerald Isles with the Mango speciality course on the Irish Language by enrolling in this specialty course. All free with your Canton Public Library Card! Mango Languages provides access to 64 different languages (including English for non-native speakers) and includes foreign films and specialty lessons.

New Language Learning Resource: Pronunciator

Start the New Year with a new language!

The Canton Public Library is adding to its language learning databases with Pronunciator. Choose from any of 80 languages, with 22 months of guided instruction for each language. You can even get feedback on your pronunciation! Pronunciator also offers ESL programs for speakers of Hindi, Spanish, Telugu, Chinese, and many other languages.

Learn about Arab etiquette, Russian slang, or how to talk about wine and cheese in French!

Children's International Language Collection

The International Language Collection in the Children's Department is home to numerous books, CDs and DVDs in a variety of languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Gujarati, Japanese, Spanish, Tamil, and many more.  The collection includes fiction and nonfiction titles in single and bilingual format.  Resources also include language learning kits for those wishing to acquire a new language.  The collection is located near the picture books directly across from the early learning play area.
