Your Tablet, Your Library - Download Music, Movies and More!

Movies and music and books, oh my! Now that the holidays are over but it's still quite cold outside, it's time to snuggle up with your tablet or smart phone and enjoy downloadable and streaming library services; from Zinio's digital magazine downloads to Hoopla, which offers streaming movies, music and more!

Join us Saturday January 17th at 1:00 PM to take a tour through our Library's emedia services, taking a close look at options for streaming and downloading movies, TV, music, ebooks and eaudiobooks.

December Session of Gale Courses Begins Soon

The Canton Library offers free Gale Courses to its cardholders, and the next set of classes is will begin on Wednesday, December 10th. Learn on your own schedule, and receive a certificate of completion when you've finished. Our goal is to provide lifelong educational opportunities for you to gain new skills or improve existing ones. Holiday Music on Hoopla

Looking for some music to perk up your holidays?  You can use your Canton Public Library card to stream/download great holiday music to your phone, tablet or computer with Hoopla!  
The great thing about Hoopla is that there are no holds. All items are always available, so you can sign in to Hoopla and stream the new Idina Menzel holiday album today!

New Gale Courses Begin on November 12th

The Canton Library offers free Gale Courses to its cardholders, and the next set of classes is will begin on Wednesday, November 12th. You can register for any number of classes and in any subject area that appeals to you, and receive a certificate of completion when you've finished. The goal is to provide lifelong educational opportunities for you to learn, at your own pace, new skills or improve existing ones. New sessions are offered every month, and November brings brand-new offerings in health care, business, technology and more!

Consumer Reports Online now available!

If you're looking to buy a new appliance, or wondering how to pick a new smoke detector for your home, Consumer Reports is a great resource.  The Canton Public Library always has a copy on hand and now, in addition to this great magazine, we are able to offer access to Consumer Reports Online which allows you to search, compare, and print reviews and buying guides for the items you need (or just want).
You can access it from any computer in the library, or on our Databases page (with your Canton Public Library card).

Even MORE New Zinio Titles!

Earlier this week we announced the addition of five new titles to our Zinio Digital Magazines collection. Today we are proud to announce seven more!  Zinio users can now also access GQ, Brides, Glamour, Self, Bon Appetit, Vogue and The New Yorker with their Canton Public Library card, bringing the number of available titles to more than 250!  Not using Zinio just yet?   Join us on Saturday, October 25th at 10:30 AM for a tour of our downloadable and streaming library materials, or check out our eMedia page for details on how to get started.

Five New Titles Added to Zinio

Are you a fan of Vanity Fair? Were you wondering how to get WIRED magazine on your tablet?  We are pleased to announce that five great titles have been added to our Zinio Digital Magazine collection. In addition to the over 200 titles already available for download, users can now use their Canton Library card to access the latest issues of Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, Golf Digest, Vanity Fair and WIRED on their computer or mobile device. Hoopla and Internet Explorer 11

We hope you are using your Canton Library card to enjoy streaming music, movies, television and audiobooks through Hoopla!  However, we have recently learned that Hoopla does not fully support Internet Explorer 11. Hoopla does support earlier versions of this software (8, 9 or 10).  
Not sure if you have Internet Explorer 11?  Go to Hoopladigital.com and look at the bottom of your screen, if you see a bright blue bar, please consider using an alternative browser, such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox for access to Hoopla.

Mango Languages Just Got Bigger!

Language lovers, rejoice! Mango Languages just got twice as big! Ten new chapters and over 1,000 additional learning hours have been added to 42 language courses. The new content will be automatically added to your Mango database. When you log in with your library card to start, you will be accessing all the new materials as well.

July Online Courses to Start

hoopla App for Kindle Fire HDX

hoopla Digital now has a mobile app for the Kindle Fire HDX 7" and 8.9" models! Open the browser on your Kindle Fire device, type slideme.org in the URL, select go to install SlideMe. Sign up for a SlideMe account. You can then search for hoopla app within SlideMe. Detailed downloading and step-by-step installation instructions can be found on hoopladigital.com/support. You can install hoopla without installing SlideMe, but you will not be prompted when hoopla has an app update.

TV shows coming to hoopla!

Starting on July 1st, the library will be adding TV episodes to its hoopla offering. Thousands of movies, TV programs, music and audiobooks are available to library patrons to stream or download on their PCs or mobile devices. Borrowing and returning items is quick and easy. Once the lending period has expired (3 days for movies and TV, 7 days for music, and 21 days for audiobooks), titles are automatically returned to the library. Use your CPL card to open a hoopla account. You can check out up to 20 items per month from your hoopla account.
