Drop-in eBook Help, Every Friday 10-11am

Have you hit a snag with your ereader?  Patrons in need of one-on-one assistance can come in on Fridays from 10:00-11:00 AM to receive basic or extended help with borrowing or downloading books to your electronic device.  No registration required, just drop in!

ABCmouse - FREE on All Library Computers

ABCmouse.com is now available for free inside the library!The award-winning ABCmouse.com curriculum is designed to help young children (ages 2-6+) build a strong foundation for future academic success. ABCmouse.com is 100% educational, with 3,500+ learning activities across all major subject areas—reading, math, science, social studies, art, and music.

To access ABCmouse.com, click on the link above, or on the Kids page under "Early Literacy Online Resources" from any computer in the library. You can even create an ABC mouse account that you child can use to track progress when you visit the library!

Happy New Year! Learn a new language with Mango.

Resolve to learn a new language at your own pace and for free!  Mango Languages provides access to 64 different languages (including English for non-native speakers) and includes foreign films and specialty lessons. Learn about the Chinese Zodiac in Mandarin for the upcoming Chinese new year by enrolling in a specialty course. All free with your Canton Public Library Card!

Make a resolution to learn something new in the new year!  Gale Courses can teach you about accounting, sign language, career skills and more!

Gale has added new courses to its catalog!  The Canton Public Library offers free Gale Courses to its cardholders, and the next set of classes is will begin on Wednesday, January 21. Learn on your own schedule, and receive a certificate of completion when you've finished. Our goal is to provide lifelong educational opportunities for you to gain new skills or improve existing ones. New Language Learning Resource: Pronunciator

Start the New Year with a new language!

The Canton Public Library is adding to its language learning databases with Pronunciator. Choose from any of 80 languages, with 22 months of guided instruction for each language. You can even get feedback on your pronunciation! Pronunciator also offers ESL programs for speakers of Hindi, Spanish, Telugu, Chinese, and many other languages.

Wondering what to do with your winter break? How about learning another language?  Mango Languages provides access to 64 different languages (including English for non-native speakers) and includes foreign films and specialty lessons. Learn about Arab etiquette, Russian slang, or how to talk about wine and cheese in French!

Movies and music and books, oh my! Now that the holidays are over but it's still quite cold outside, it's time to snuggle up with your tablet or smart phone and enjoy downloadable and streaming library services; from Zinio's digital magazine downloads to Hoopla, which offers streaming movies, music and more!

The great thing about Hoopla is that there are no holds. All items are always available, so you can sign in to Hoopla and stream the new Idina Menzel holiday album today!

Consumer Reports Online now available!

If you're looking to buy a new appliance, or wondering how to pick a new smoke detector for your home, Consumer Reports is a great resource.  The Canton Public Library always has a copy on hand and now, in addition to this great magazine, we are able to offer access to Consumer Reports Online which allows you to search, compare, and print reviews and buying guides for the items you need (or just want).
You can access it from any computer in the library, or on our Databases page (with your Canton Public Library card).

Even MORE New Zinio Titles!

Earlier this week we announced the addition of five new titles to our Zinio Digital Magazines collection. Today we are proud to announce seven more!  Zinio users can now also access GQ, Brides, Glamour, Self, Bon Appetit, Vogue and The New Yorker with their Canton Public Library card, bringing the number of available titles to more than 250!  Not using Zinio just yet?   Join us on Saturday, October 25th at 10:30 AM for a tour of our downloadable and streaming library materials, or check out our eMedia page for details on how to get started.

Five New Titles Added to Zinio

Are you a fan of Vanity Fair? Were you wondering how to get WIRED magazine on your tablet?  We are pleased to announce that five great titles have been added to our Zinio Digital Magazine collection. In addition to the over 200 titles already available for download, users can now use their Canton Library card to access the latest issues of Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, Golf Digest, Vanity Fair and WIRED on their computer or mobile device. Hoopla and Internet Explorer 11

We hope you are using your Canton Library card to enjoy streaming music, movies, television and audiobooks through Hoopla!  However, we have recently learned that Hoopla does not fully support Internet Explorer 11. Hoopla does support earlier versions of this software (8, 9 or 10).  
Not sure if you have Internet Explorer 11?  Go to Hoopladigital.com and look at the bottom of your screen, if you see a bright blue bar, please consider using an alternative browser, such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox for access to Hoopla.
