Canton Seniors Book Discussion: May 23, 2012

Canton Seniors Book Discussion group will meet on Wednesday, May 23 from 2:00-3:00 PM in Canton Public Library's Group Study Room A. We are reading the Everyone's Reading 2012 choice:

Lethal by Sandra Brown — When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, a man accused of murdering seven people the night before.

Everyone's Reading 2012

Everyone's Reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading the same great book… and we do have a great one for everyone this year. Sandra Brown's Lethal will have you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last. Brown, the author of over 60 best sellers, certainly has a way with words and your emotions. She is making two personal appearances in the Metro Detroit area: Thursday, March 22 at 2:00 PM at the Rochester Church of Christ and at 7:00 PM that same evening at Adel Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. We have free tickets to both events available at the information desk beginning March 12 to Canton cardholders in good standing. It promises to be fun and informative events. Also watch for Lethal to be featured at our Lunch and a Book discussion on April 12 and at the Canton Senior Book Discussion Group on May 23.

Guilty?

The Michigan State Police Forensic Lab presents its own version of CSI-style crime solving techniques, only this is the real thing! Trooper Nicole Bock, Forensic Scientist Guy Nutter and Laboratory Commander F/Lt. Charles Morden will present this fascinating look in conjunction with our popular Everyone's Reading program. The forensics tie in very nicely with Scott Turow's Presumed Innocent, the original courtroom thriller. Join us in the Community Room on Tuesday, March 16, at 7:00PM for a thrilling evening.

Due Process

Canton Public Library is part of the Metro Detroit Everyone's Reading 2010: Presumed Innocent, a legal thriller written by Scott Turow and later made into a movie starring Harrison Ford. On Tuesday, March 23, from 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Community Room, Joyce Simowski (Adult Services Librarian) will share her expertise and love of legal thrillers. She'll talk about a few familiar authors and introduce you to some new authors and their characters as well. The Friends of the Canton Public Library will supply prize baskets to a couple of lucky attendees.
No registration required.
