Picture Books about Snowmen

What falls, but never gets hurt? Snow, of course. It's that time of year again, when the snow falls and snowmen are made. Here are some fun picture books to help you make the best snowman on the block.

Bear in long underwear by Todd H. Doodler

Making a friend by Alison McGhee

Perfect snow by Barbara Reid

Snowflakes, No Two Alike

No two alike by Keith Baker — Snowflakes come in all shapes and sizes, with no two alike. This beautiful and simple picture book follows a pair of birds on a snowflake-filled journey through a winter landscape, where everything everywhere, from branches and leaves to forests full of trees, is unique, just like you and me!

Enjoy the snow and more winter tales!

Snowboard Swooshing!

Wow, to just take a look outside is breathtaking. I love the snow and these past few days we certainly have gotten our fair share. Sometimes I stare at it and wonder, wouldn't snowboarding just be a blast on all this snow! I have never actually snowboarded, so I better check out some of these books on snowboarding! Be sure to check them out too. Happy swooshing!

Flurries of Excitement over the Snow

So school started back on Monday, but are you already hoping for a snow day later this week? Are you tired of the little "dusting" and "flurries" we've gotten so far this winter? Have you been waiting for January when the snowflakes will be "ripe" enough to catch on your tongue? Are you ready for a full blown school-stopping, snowman-sustaining, hot-chocolate-inspiring snowstorm? If you are a grown-up did that last sentence strike fear in your heart? :)
Well, if you're serious about that snow day, one of the long standing "rituals" for getting one is to go to bed with your pajamas inside out. If that doesn't work, you can always have a snow day vicariously by checking out one of our Snow-themed movies from the children's library. Good Luck!

Waiting For Snow

Well, we didn't get very much snow last night like the weather people kept predicting. I woke up this morning and it was all gone! Looks like it all turned into rain. Are you waiting impatiently for a big snow so that you can go out and play in it (and maybe have a snow day off from school)? Read some books about snow while you wait. I like Oliver And Amanda And The Big Snow, Sam's Snowy Day, and The Snowball.  Hopefully, we won't have to wait too much longer to see those snowflakes coming down again!
