Honoring Veterans
Two days have been set aside to honor the memory of those who have served America in the armed forces:
Veterans Day
Originally known as Armistice Day, this day of remembrance was conceived to celebrate the end of World
War I fighting at 11:00AM, November 11, 1918. (The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.) It became a national holiday in 1926, when World War I was still known as "the War to end all wars." Unfortunately, this was not to be. At the conclusion of World War II and the Korean War, Congress was requested to change the nature of this day to honor those who have served America in all wars. Therefore, in 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day.

Honoring Those Who Served
November 11 is our nationwide observance of Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, to honor our U.S. veterans for their patriotism, love of country, military service, and sacrifice for the common good.
In addition to thanking all of the veterans you know, join the community at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill, which will host a Salute to Service for all area veterans, their families, and supporters this evening at 7:00; doors open at 6:00. The Michigan Military Moms will also be on-site collecting items for service men and women who are currently serving our country overseas.
