Chalk CPL

Great art can happen in any medium and to prove that, artists from D&M Art Studio will be here on July 9 at 6:00 PM to create chalk art versions of our Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out masterpieces. See what they create, and then cover the CPL sidewalks with your own chalk work of art in this all-ages activity. Artists will also be at Cherry Hill Village so be sure to stop out there and see the Inside|Out art and chalk recreations.

DIA Inside|Out Art in Canton

Young Woman with ViolinWe are pleased to be part of the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program, which brings high-quality reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA's collection to the streets. There are six pieces displayed in Canton, including this one, Young Woman with a Violin by Italian painter Orazio Gentileschi. This painting depicts Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, and was created in 1612. The artist's daughter is the model; the painting is a gift of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford.

Get news and information about programs and activities throughout Canton to celebrate our participation in this program on our Inside|Out page. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation sponsors this program.
