Jeff Bridges hosts "music's biggest night" when the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences presents the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards on January 31, 2010. Presenters include Ringo Starr, Green Day, Pink and many more. Beyonce and Taylor Swift lead in nominations, 10 and 8 respectively. Britain’s Crime Writers’ Association has announced that Scottish novelist Val McDermid is “the recipient of this year’s prestigious CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger Award, which honours outstanding achievement in the field of crime writing." Ms. McDermid began writing in 1987 when Report for Murder was released and over the years has won numerous writing awards for her mystery stories.

Forbes Travel Guides
Forbes has issued its first set of four and five star awards for hotels, and restaurants as the new brand name for what was formerly known as the Mobil Travel Guide. The awards were given out under the Mobil brand for more than 50 years. The ratings are based on evaluations of more than 500 attributes. 2009 Design Excellence Award
Canton Public Library is the proud recipient of a Design Excellence Award for commercial landscape. The award was presented to the library by the Canton Committee for Community Excellence. The colorful READ berm, on the east side of the library facing Canton Center Road, was recognized by the Committee as promoting community pride. The library strives to be a pleasant, welcoming environment for the many patrons who visit. (A special thanks to Reliable Landscaping of Canton which does a wonderful job of taking care of the library grounds, especially the ladies who take care of the READ flowers.)2009 Dagger Awards Announced
The Crime Writers Association has announced the 2009 CWA Gold Dagger Awards' shortlist. The winners will be announced on October 21, 2009 at the SpecSavers Crime Thriller Awards in London and will be shown on ITV3 later in the month.

Sisters in Crime Announce Davitt Awards
This year 39 crime books competed for the Davitt Awards which were set up by Sisters in Crime in 2001 to celebrate the achievements of Australian women crime writers. Justice Betty King presented the awards to a crowd of 140 at the Celtic Club. For the third year running, the awards were sponsored by the Victoria Police Museum.
Beautiful Place To Die (PanMacmillan), the debut novel by Sydney-based filmmaker turned crime writer, Malla Nunn, tonight won Sisters in Crime’s Davitt Awards for the best (adult) crime novel by an Australian woman in 2008.
Blue Mountains writer Catherine Jinks took out the Davitt (young adult) for Genius Squad (Allen & Unwin)

Shamus Award Nominees Announced
