Zumba

Zumba is a fitness class that combines dance and fitness. It is all the rage nowadays. This dance mingles Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system. Dance routines like Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, Mambo, Hip-Hop and Flamenco are used in this class. The fusion of Latin dance rhythms and moves provides an excellent group exercise experience.
So in partnership with Canton Township's 100 Days of Health and as a part of our multicultural programming, join us for a lively, fun session of Zumba on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 AM.

Tango Anyone?

Hold me tight and tango me home : Maria Finn by Dominguez, Maria Finn — Maria Finn has written a memoir on how she cured her heartache of her husband leaving her by learning to dance the tango. A wedding in Buenos Aires has prompted her interest in learning this very complicated dance, however, she planned for her husband to accompany her on this journey. His departure to live with another woman has left her with the decision to learn alone.

My All-Time Favorite Movies

Citizen Kane [videodisc] Directed, written by, and starring Orson Welles. Technically the most innovative movie ever made. Still looks fresh and striking today.

Singin' in the rain [videodisc] Starring and co-directed by Gene Kelly. Best musical ever! Cant conceive as to how it could be improved.

Happy Birthday Noel Streatfeild!

Celebrate Noel Streatfeild's birthday on December 24th!  Come to the library early (we're closed on the 24th and 25th) to check out some of her books.  My favorite is Ballet Shoes, and the library has many other fiction books about ballet, or informative books on dance.  Come check them out!

Happy Birthday Degas!

degasThis Sunday, July 19th, is the birth anniversary of the artist Edgar Degas.  He lived from 1834-1917.  During his life, he became famous for painting and sculpting many subjects including a lengthy series having to do with dancers and dancing, most notably in the field of ballet.
