Parent Blogs

Moms and Dads can learn a lot from other parents in the ever growing parenting blogs. On one site, Geek Dad, parents blog about their experiences raising kids in the digital age. Technology, family friendly projects and pop culture are topics that are covered. Cool Mom Picks is another site that gives parents tips on clothes, gifts, and books, to name a few.

What Should I Read?

In what order should you read a series? Read everything written by Sue Grafton or Malcolm Gladwell and would like to try a similar author? Books & Authors, available in Canton Public Library's databases, allows you to search by title and/or author, subject, keyword, time period, geographic location, or character. Follow the series links for additional titles, or take advantage of the Expert Picks & Librarian's Favorites for recommendations based on some of your favorite titles or topics.

To Be Read

I recently 'stumbled' upon Goodreads and added it to my list of websites for TBR [To Be Read] suggestions. Of course, that's the whole idea of this blog, so when a request for historical mysteries writers came up, these authors immediately came to mind: Alys Clare, Peter Tremayne, Margaret Frazer, Ariana Franklin, and Alan Gordon.

New DVDs

As of January 1st, 2011 we are no longer offering the BookLetters service. To subscribe to featured books (by genre, format, etc.), bestsellers, and other library RSS feeds, please see the Books & More page.

Now available from Canton Public Library and delivered directly to you, the New DVDs BookLetter. You will learn what films have been added to the library's collection when the New DVDs monthly BookLetter is emailed to you. The selections are linked to the library's catalog making it easy to find out if the DVD is on the shelf or to request a hold on it.

A Blog About a Blog

I realize this is a blog about a blog, but if you are a reader of mysteries/crime fiction check out The Rap Sheet. It's a blog with reviews of new and forthcoming books,  interviews with authors, and crime-fiction-related Web sites. (Photo: Raymond Chandler/AP Images)
