Have you hit a snag with your e-reader?  Patrons in need of one-on-one assistance can come in on Fridays from 10:00-11:00 AM to receive basic or extended help with borrowing or downloading books to your electronic device.  No registration required, just drop in!

If you or someone you know needs assistance with basic computer skills, including Internet use and setting up an email account, please stop in to CPL's Internet Lab between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13 for our drop-in skills lab. We will have guided activities for practice with mouse skills, copying/pasting, and more.  A librarian will be on hand to answer any questions you may have or direct you to activities and tutorials to help build basic computer skills.

College Skills Lab

Designed to help high school juniors and seniors and college students prepare for college courses and careers, these labs will feature hands-on skill building and learning. Bryn Birchler, a junior management major at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and Canton High School graduate, provides peer-level instruction. Registration required.

  • June 13, 7:00-8:00 PM Resume Writing for High School and College Students 
    Turn those odd jobs and volunteer experiences into transferrable skills and create a professional resume.  Formats, tips and cover letters will be discussed. Registration begins May 24; ages 16-25.
  • July 11, 7:00-8:00 PM College Prep Excel Skill Builder I
    Go beyond basics to learn data cleansing, Lookup functions, pivot table basics, data tables and basic financial functions. Some familiarity with Excel is necessary. Registration begins June 24; ages 16-25.
  • July 18, 7:00-8:00 PM College Prep Excel Skill Builder II
    A continuation of Excel Skill Builder I. Some familiarity with Excel is necessary. Registration begins June 24; ages 16-25.

Beyond Cable: Internet Streaming TV and Movies

Have you heard of Netflix, Hulu, or Hoopla? There is a whole world of On-Demand programming outside the cable box available through web-based services. This class will cover options for streaming video over the internet alongside or as an alternative to cable packages and provide an overview of some of the most popular services and necessary technology. This program is free and open to the public. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Movies and music and books, oh my! Did you know that you can stream or download thousands of items to your computer or mobile device to enjoy your library where you go? From Zinio's 175 digital magazine titles to Hoopla's streaming movies, music and more, our emedia services have just what you need — even if you're on vacation!

Join us Thursday June 9 at 7:00 PM in the community room to take a tour through our Library's emedia services, taking a close look at options for streaming and downloading movies, TV, music, ebooks and eaudiobooks. Registration begins May 24!

Book Cover Make-Overs
