Relay for Life & Construction Affect Library Traffic
Canton's annual Relay for Life begins 10:00AM Saturday, May 15 at Heritage Park and runs through Sunday, May 16. This event raises funds to fight cancer and awareness of cancer prevention and always draws a big crowd. Traffic will be heavy and parking at the library and in township lots will be tight. Please adhere to posted parking signs and park only in public parking areas, leaving our employee parking area available for library staff.The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
A mother of 5 and caregiver Henrietta Lacks, died at age 31 of cervical cancer. In 1951 without her or her family's consent, tissue was removed and those cells were cultivated in a research lab at Johns Hopkins. Those cells never died and went on to help develop a vaccine for polio and many other important discoveries in medicine. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's been 25 years since the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month organization began promoting education and awareness for this disease. The library has a large collection of books regarding breast cancer including prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. If you or a loved one are faced with breast cancer, be sure to talk to your doctor regarding reading recommendations.

National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
