Writing Conference and Contest

Detroit Working Writers (DWW) is hosting a one‐day creative celebration designed for writers of all genres and skill levels. Michigan novelist Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli, author of the Emily Kincaid mystery series, will be the keynote speaker. Workshops will feature topics in poetry, micro fiction, social media, and self‐publishing, among others. The conference will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Main Branch of the Clinton‐Macomb Public Library.

Author Colleen Gleason Visits

This program has been canceled.

Internationally best-selling author Colleen Gleason will discuss her books and her writing process. Gleason's books include the popular Gardella Vampire Chronicles and the Regency Draculia Series that starts with The Vampire Voss. She also penned a short story, Northanger Castle, for the anthology Bespelling Jane Austen.

In addition to her works under her own name, she writes an exciting post-apocalyptic romance series under the pseudonym of Joss Ware. Gleason's publishing plans include a steampunk young adult series. Please join us on Thursday, April 26th at 7:00 PM for a great evening about reading and writing.

Creative Writing Short Stories

This Summer, Teen Creative Writing students were asked to write a story based on a selected list of genres. Each story developed over the course of the six week class, beginning with gathering ideas, a rough draft, and the final product represented in the audio recordings of the finished products below.
