Vintner's Book Discussion Will Not Meet in December

Wine and Mysteries Book Discussion, which meets monthly at Vintners Winery, will not be meeting in the month of December. Have a festive, safe and fun Christmas holiday! A few recommended titles to help you enjoy this season are:

"Fun at Lunch" at the Park

This time our Lunch and Learn is all about de-stressing! We're traveling to the high school Thursday, November 17, during A, B, and C lunches to bring you video and board games! Just bring your lunch to the Salem presentation room (2112) to relax during lunch.

Family Game Day

November 20-26 is National Game and Puzzle Week. If you are looking for some post-Thanksgiving-Day fun, join us on Saturday, November 26th in the Community Room at 1:00 PM for Family Game Day. We'll have many board games here for you to play. You'll also get to make a version of Speed Scrabble to take home with you!

Let's Pretend

Starfish Family Services presents a workshop for parents on the importance of pretend play. Learn to identify and use elements and strategies for supporting pretend play in your household. Cosplay Contest November 9

November 9, 6:30-8:45 PM join us at our monthly Animanga Club meeting for our annual Cosplay Contest! Dress as your favorite, stylish anime character and you could win a prize. Or, just come along to watch anime and support your friends! Meeting in the purple room.

Haunted Michigan: The Hunter and the Skeptic

The hunter (author Sandy Arno Lyons) and the skeptic (Robert Elmouchi) will discuss hauntings in the Great Lakes as well as Lyons' book entitled Michigan's Most Haunted: A Ghostly Guide to the Great Lakes. Lyons wrote her book after traveling our great state and visiting known haunts. Did she have any real encounters? Come hear the spine-tingling tales on November 1 at 7:00 PM in the Community Room.

Stuff the Truck Diaper Drive

On November 16 and 17, the library will be hosting a diaper drive to benefit the Detroit Area Diaper Bank. For a fourth straight year, the number of children living in poverty is up and many families in our community struggle to provide clean diapers for babies, the handicapped and elderly. Last year we collected over 26,000 diapers to help Michigan families. We need your help to stuff the truck donated by Fat Chef in a Little Coat catering. Bring diapers, any brand or size, baby through adult, to the library on November 16 and 17. Open packages are acceptable; if diapers are loose, please indicate size on the package.

Organize and Recycle in Your Kitchen

Susan Carmody of Perfectly Placed LLC and Mary Vangieson, the Wayne County Resource Recovery Coordinator, offer an introductory presentation to help participants learn the basics of organizing and recycling in their kitchens… just in time for holiday entertaining. This is the second presentation by Susan and Mary in their series about organizing and recycling. Bring your plastic shopping bags and receive a free, reusable shopping tote on November 2 at 7:00 PM in the Community Room.

Flower Arranging

Have you always wanted a permanent floral arrangement for your entry hall or elsewhere in your home? Are you interested in creating an arrangement of fresh greens for the holidays? Come and see a flower arranging demonstration in the Community Room on Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 PM.

Join Us For The Billionaire's Vinegar

The billionaire's vinegar: the mystery of the world's most expensive bottle of wine by Benjamin Wallace — Come join us for a discussion this book, which concerns the fraudulent auction of an extremely expensive bottle of wine reputed to belong to Thomas Jefferson. Learn a lot about the history of wine in Europe and America as well! Our discussion runs from 7:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15th. Register online, and don't forget to ask for the book at Adult Reference.

Kiwanis Storytime

On Thursday, November 10 from 7:00-7:45 PM, members of the Kiwanis Club of Canton will read stories and offer other fun activities. All ages welcome.

Quilt Group

Drop in and join other quilters to share ideas, skills, patterns and scraps. All skill level are welcome on November 2 at 7:00 PM. Special Note: There will be NO December meeting and Happy Holidays to all!

Knit Night

Drop in and join other handcrafters for an evening of sharing and learning. All ages and stages are welcome with no registration required. The self-directed group meets on November 14 and December 12 at 7:00 PM. Hurry up and finish the winter project you'rer working on.

Open Chess

Open Chess in November and December will only meet once in each month due to the holiday calendar. Tim Heller will host the informal open play for everyone from beginners to experts. Join us on November 13 and December 11 at 1:00 PM in the Community Room. Oh, and have a lovely holiday season!
