Today is the 40th birthday of Sesame Street! As the longest-running children's television show, Sesame Street has been around as many of us have grown up. Celebrate this special day and sing a verse of "Rubber Ducky," play some Sesame Street games, or stop in at the library where we have all kinds of Sesame Street materials.

There’s nothing quite like a muppet to cheer you up, no matter how old you are. So celebrate Jim Henson and his muppet creations this week, in honor of his birthday on September 24. Our new puppet kits have arrived and are currently being processed. Put yourself on hold for my personal favorite: Mama Cat Has Three Kittens by Denise Fleming. The adorable kitty puppets do a great job of bringing this story to life for your children.

The puppets have been temporarily removed from circulation and will be returned as soon as possible.  We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.

Our new shipment of Folkmanis puppets has arrived and these cute friends are ready to go home and play with you! Check out some of my personal favorites: Frog in a Spaceship or Frog Prince - they're awesome!

Here at CPL, we strive to ensure that our circulating puppets get cleaned frequently. If you notice any puppets in desperate need of a "bath," please let a staff member know so we can take care of them right away. We want our puppet area to continue serving as a fun play space and we thank you for your help in keeping our fuzzy friends fresh and clean!

Keep a look-out for the new finger puppets that will soon be arriving to the Children's puppet collection. And while you're waiting for them to arrive, why not try making some puppets of your very own? Disney has lots of great suggestions to check out!

You may have noticed that we're expanding the Children's puppet collection to include puppet kits of popular stories (like Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak). If you have a favorite children's story you'd like to see included in this collection, please let us know - we always appreciate your input!
