Digital Magazines are on the Way!

The Canton Public Library will soon provide unlimited, simultaneous, digital access to almost 200 of your favorite magazines through a new database called Zinio for Libraries. After setting up a free account, CPL card holders will be able to read current issues cover-to-cover of any these selected titles, as well as be informed via email of future issues. Patrons can read online at any time via a web browser, either inside the library, or remotely on your PC, Mac, iPad, Kindle Fire, iPhone, or Android device. Offline access is also available after downloading an app. The issues are then permanently stored in your "viewer collection." No checkout periods or late fees! A wide variety of popular titles will be available including Consumer Reports, Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Martha Stewart Living, Rolling Stone, Motor Trend, Popular Science, and Newsweek.

Zoobooks

Beautiful, colorful photographs of animals make Zoobooks magazine an instant winner with kids. Each issue focuses on a particular animal, bird, reptile or insect giving lots of information and colorful illustrations. Kids can work on puzzles, games and crafts, while many young readers submit their own drawings and stories. Zootles is geared for ages 2-6 and Zoobies for babies through age 2. Introducing Chandamama!

We now have a new magazine available in the Children's Department! Chandamama is an Indian children's magazine with stories on mythology, culture, and tradition. Our subscription to Chandamama is in English, but you can also view content online at Chandamama's website in a variety of languages including Hindi and Tamil. Check it out!

Brain, Child

Brain, Child is a parenting magazine described as "the magazine for thinking mothers." First published in 2000, it is the only literary magazine that's dedicated to motherhood. Acclaimed writers such as Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Hoffman and Anne Tyler have all contributed content to this magazine. E, The Environmental Magazine

From heated discussions on coal and population growth to tips on skin care, cargo-ready bikes, green jobs and ecovilages, E, The Environmental Magazine has got it all. The current issue features an article on actress Daryl Hannah and her work in West Virgina and the work of ecologists to save California's giant green turtles (550 Ibs.!). The library carries last year's issues up the current or you can access their online edition.
