Circus and Magic Acts for Adults

The night circus: a novel by Erin Morgenstern — A circus, known as Le Cirque des Rêves features two illusionists, Celia and Marco, who are unknowingly competing in a game to which they have been irrevocably bound by their mercurial masters, and as the two fall deeply and passionately in love with each other, their masters intervene with dangerous consequences

Last chain on Billie: how one extraordinary elephant escaped the big top by Carol Bradley — Against the backdrop of a glittering but brutal circus world, Carol Bradley's Last Chain on Billie charts the history of elephants in America, the inspiring story of the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee and the spellbinding tale of a resilient elephant who defied the system even as she struggled to conquer her past, who never lost sight of the life she was meant to have.

Water for elephants: a novel by Sara Gruen — Though he may not speak of them, the memories still dwell inside Jacob Jankowski's ninety-something-year-old mind. Memories of himself as a young man, tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, the beautiful star of the equestrian act, and the obstinate elephant named Rosie.

New Book Club in a Bag Kit

The all-girl filling station's last reunion: a novel [kit] by Fannie Flagg — Spanning decades, generations, and America in the 1940s and today, The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion is a fun-loving mystery about an Alabama woman today, and five women who in 1943 worked in a Phillips 66 gas station, during the WWII years. Like Fannie Flagg's classic Fried green tomatoes at the Whistle-Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg, this is filled to the brim with Flagg's trademark funny voice and storytelling magic. CPL's Lunch and a Book Group gave this title 4 stars out of 5. Note: This kit contains 10 copies of the title.
