The Amazing Dewey Race
Tweens and Teens, do you watch the Amazing Race on TV? Interested in embarking on your own adventure? Join us in the library for a race of your own. Kids, have you ever seen a mask that made you laugh, or scared you, or made you think, "What is that?" Masks are a tradition in many cultures. Canton Cricket
Wicket, gully, bowler, batsman… learn all about the game of cricket from the Michigan Cricket Association on Thursday July 21st from 7:00-8:30PM. A major sport in England and India, cricket is becoming more popular here in the United States. In fact, Canton recently unveiled the Township's first cricket field in Heritage Park. Teen International Cook-Off
Do you want to show off your culinary skills? Monday, July 18, at 2:00PM teens going into grades 7-12 can bring 25 samples of your best homemade cultural dish for our judges to sample and rate on creativity and taste. Dishes must be homemade and you must include the recipe. If you sign up as a cook, you may not sign up as a judge. Registration begins July 4th.[photo courtesy of sxc.hu]

Where in the World?
Hey kids! Are you curious about the world around you? What are some of those crazy landmarks we have? Come to our Where in the World program on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 7:00 to 7:45PM and have a fun time learning about landmarks both here and in other countries. We'll do some trivia, eat a tasty snack, and make some creative crafts. Registration starts June 29 and is open to Children ages 5 years to 8 years-old with a Caregiver. See you there!

International Game Day
All ages can join us on July 26th at 1:00PM as we enjoy learning about different cultures through games played around the world. You could even earn your Multicultural badge! No registration required. Weather permitting, this program will take place outside.
International Cooking Contest and Demo
Note: This event has been canceled.
Do you make Grandma's pierogi recipe or Aunt Maria's spaghetti sauce? Cook up your cultural specialties and enter our international cooking contest. Bring your dish and 10 copies of the recipe to share. Prizes will be awarded based on the audience's preferences. Also watch an Indian cooking demonstration and tasting. Join us on August 9 at 7:00PM in the Community Room. No registration required.
Kanzashi Flower
Join us Saturday July 30th at 2:00PM as CPL librarian and local artist Laura Fawcett teaches the Japanese art of kanzashi flowers. Kanzashi are beautiful folded fabric-petal flowers you can wear in your hair or as a pin. Class participants will learn basic fabric folding techniques and make a hair clip to take home. All materials will be supplied and no experience is necessary. Ages 12 and up — Registration required.
