Eira the Wire Fox Terrier wins National Dog Show
America has a new top dog! Eira the Wire Fox Terrier won Best in Breed and Best in Show at the National Dog Show held in Philadelphia. Her show name is Steele Your Heart. She adds Champion and Grand Champion to her title. Eire means snow in Welsh. Next up is Westminster in February. If she wins, she'll be only the 3rd dog ever to win both championships in the same season.

In this program aimed at adults, Karen Patterson, the Humane Educator for the Humane Society of Huron Valley, will discuss a bit about their mission as well as the great programs they offer to help the community and our pets. Some of the issues addressed will be overpopulation, cruelty and of course, pet adoption. Find out how we can all help to save some of our best friends on November 12 at Noon.

Register for the Best in Show Dog Show!
Canton Library will host our own Best in Show Dog Show on August 6th from 10:00AM-Noon. Pets must register ahead of time — but all humans are welcome!A signed registration form and other information about your pet is required if you wish to be in the show. You must present your homeowners insurance and dog's shot records to participate.
Dogs will be judged on various criteria including appearance, behavior, best trick, and best costume. Many prizes will be awarded with an overall Best in Show grand prize for the winner.

Canton Dog Park
On Friday, May 20, Canton's new dog park opened at Preservation Park in Cherry Hill Village. The park provides a safe off-leash environment for dogs and their owners.Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated, and entrance to the park is $25 annually for Canton residents or $50 per year for non-residents. There are separate sections of the park for small and large dogs.
A grand opening celebration is planned for later in the Summer. Find out even more about the park at the Canton Patch.
