validating a travel company

Hi, we are planning a trip to south africa this fall and have been doing some research on the feasability of such a trip we have incountered both large and small companies offering services, we are interested in knowing if there is any such group or service that would be able to give us info on the reputation of such travel agencies, exspecially the smaller ones that are located in south africa, thank you for any assistance you can give. The South African Embassies in this country might be your best bet to start as they have information on tourism. There are embassies in Chicago, ph 312-939-7929 and Washington D.C. with phone number 202-232-4400 and New York located at:

You could also check out travel guides owned by the library such as The Rough Guide to First-time Africa. Travel guides such as this often list selcted tour operators and travel agents.
